Joseph Raso

​

Joseph Raso is an accomplished vocal coach and devoted pianist/accompanist with over a decade of experience working with singers of all ages and levels across a multitude of styles. He has held teaching roles in Voice at respected institutions including (MD) Musical Director and Vocal Instructor at NIDA, Vocal/Singing Coach at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, Waverley College, and The Australian Performing Arts Grammar School, where he has earned a reputation for nurturing technically sound, expressive vocalists.

 

Joseph earned his Master’s Degree in Voice from the Sydney Conservatorium in 2019. During the summers of 2018 and 2019, he refined his craft at the Mediterranean Opera Studio and Festival in Sicily, studying with internationally acclaimed vocal coaches and deepening his love for the art of singing.

 

Since beginning his teaching career in 2012, Joseph has developed a flexible, evidence-based vocal method that empowers singers to grow confidently and sustainably. He specialises in:

 

As a performer, Joseph has sung lead roles in operas including La Rondine and Don Giovanni, and has worked professionally with Opera Australia, bringing a wealth of stage experience into his studio.

 

Joseph offers students regular opportunities to perform in mid-year and end-of-year studio concerts, building confidence through storytelling and stagecraft.

Sofya Raso

 

Sofya Raso specialises in Musical Theatre and Classical Voice training, offering a unique blend of elite vocal instruction and extensive experience in both musical theatre and opera. Her approach combines technical excellence with practical stage experience.

 

Sofya graduated from the Russian State Conservatorium in 2019 with a degree in Opera Performance and Vocal Pedagogy. She further refined her skills with a Master’s Degree in Opera Performance from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music in 2022.

 

From 2005 to 2018, Sofya served as a soloist-vocalist at the Sverdlovsk State Academic Musical Theatre in Yekaterinburg, one of Russia’s premier musical theatres. In addition to her performing career, from 2016 to 2019, Sofya served as the Assistant Director for Russian Conservatorium projects, she worked closely with students on stagecraft, emotional expression, and choreography for gala concerts and opera productions. 

 

From 2016 to 2019, Sofya taught Classical Voice at the Faculty of Pedagogical Professional Practice, based on the Russian Opera School. This marked the beginning of her teaching career, where she shared her knowledge and expertise with aspiring vocalists, helping them refine their technique and prepare for professional performance. 

 

With a rich background in both performing and teaching, Sofya brings invaluable insights into vocal technique, stage performance, and the nuances of competitive environments. She teaches students not only how to perfect their vocal technique but also how to command the stage, ensuring they are fully prepared to succeed in auditions, competitions, and professional performances.

Ravi T-Ray

 

A recent graduate of the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, Ravi T-Ray has been making a name for himself in the Sydney music scene. He is a Sydney-Based pianist/music educator who specialises in private events/functions, group/solo performances, music tutoring for students of all ages, and is also releasing his own music.

 

Ravi’s musical background as a pianist began 10 years ago in jazz music. Over the years his style has evolved across a multitude of genres from classical, rock/pop, reggae, RnB and more. He’s a versatile musical educator whose key focus is to specially tailor to each student’s ability and help them discover the musical direction they want to pursue. Ravi has been teaching for 5 years in both private and public piano lessons as well as running small to large ensembles. He teaches a wide range of ages and is open and accepting to all kinds of people.

 

Ravi co-founded the 10-piece jazz ensemble Mosaic in 2023, a vibrant, creative group which is specifically tailored to showcasing original works by Australian composers under the age of 25. Recognized as the 2024 2MBS Fine Music Sydney Artist in Residence, Mosaic released their debut album Where We Are Now in October 2024, which debuted at #2 on the ARIA Jazz & Blues chart and #4 on the AIR 100% Independent Albums chart.

 

Ravi has a deep passion for music and is not limited to one specific style or genre. He is keen to pass on this passion to the next generation of musicians and inspire a love of music to anyone interested in pursuing it.
